Shaping the future of Neonatal Nursing in Vietnam – March 2013
A team of academics at Canterbury Christ Church University working in partnership with Newborns Vietnam, Da Nang National Technical College of Medicine II, Da Nang Department of Health and the Da Nang Hospital for Women & Children has introduced the first UK Neonatal Nursing course in Vietnam. The 18-month course for qualified Vietnamese nurses at Da Nang Hospital for Women and Children officially started on 4th March 2013.
26 nurses at the hospital will receive face-to-face lectures and practical sessions delivered by Canterbury Christ Church academics and will benefit from ‘live’ distance learning with full translation. The curriculum content has been designed to enable participation at UK Further Education Qualification Framework Level 4.
Debra Teasdale, Dean of the Faculty of Health and Social Care, said: “We believe this is a first for a UK university and we are really proud to be leading on such a critical project of change which will benefit nurses, infants and their families in Vietnam.
