Newborns Vietnam is a UK registered, volunteer based charity dedicated to improving the survival of newborn infants and their mothers in countries with high levels of neonatal mortality and illness in South East Asia with a specific focus on Vietnam.
Globally 44% of child deaths occur during a baby’s first month of life, and more than a third happen on day one. That’s a big percentage, which is why at Newborns Vietnam our focus is on maternal and neonatal health.
We work in partnership with local health public health providers in Vietnam to develop long-term sustainable solutions to support the reduction of newborn deaths you can read more at http://www.newbornsvietnam.org.
We deliver neonatal nurse training in partnership with British higher education institutions and teaching hospitals. Our aim is to develop competent, confident, skilled nurses whose enhanced knowledge and skills will directly contribute to reducing newborn deaths and the outcomes for babies that survive. Through an exchange of knowledge and skills these partnerships enable our local partners to extend their body of knowledge and capacity to develop neonatal nursing education programmes in the future.
We improve access to, and quality of, newborn care in the poorest rural areas by providing training for nurse educators to train front line staff to do basic life saving interventions well for every baby.
We provide basic lifesaving equipment to support the delivery of enhanced newborn care at regional referral hospitals.
There are many ways that you can support our work to advance newborn care and give every baby the chance to celebrate his or her first birthday. Join our Cycle a Difference riders and cycle for newborns – every mile makes a difference.
Your donation will support our vital work to help prevent needless newborn deaths, advance neonatal care and help change the life chances of thousands of newborns.
