Vietnam Challenge Ride, May 2013

The Story

23 cyclists from all walks of life, from Mike Hall and Richard Dunnett round the world cyclists a professional track cyclist, PA’s and a volunteer film maker arrived in Hanoi to cycle 1,500 kilometres to raise funds for Vietnam’s first UK/Vietnam neonatal nurse training and life saving equipment.

The ride captain Luke Humphreys, a Newborns Vietnam trustee and highly experienced organiser of group cycling led this fully supported ride.

They stepped out of the airport into the searing heat of Hanoi and had a day to acclimatise at the Sofitel Legend Metropole Hotel the most famous hotel in Vietnam. This was a wonderfully generous donation from the hotel and the cyclists dreamed of its cool fresh rooms and incredible food as they traversed Vietnam.

The title ride sponsored was Premier Oil who fielded two riders for the full ten days. The Mechanics Sponsor was Standard Chartered Bank and their CEO cycled the final four days. Both companies provide huge support way beyond their sponsorship.

The cyclists were joined for the final four days by CEOs & directors from seven international companies whose corporate and personal sponsorship made a great contribution to the funds raised. The target of £75,000 was reached and exceeded and is now at £135,000 and donations are still coming in – support the heroes and heroines Click here to donate …

The British Ambassador welcomed our heroes and heroines into Da Nang to a standing ovation for an amazing achievement.
