Dr Liz Crathern – Warmth and Nutrition – meeting the infants basic needs

I am one of the neonatal lecturers on the Newborns Vietnam neonatal nurse training programme and have been privileged to be teaching the nurses about a wide range of neonatal issues, including keeping babies warm and developing sucking ability for breast feeding.

UK Soothers

Dr Vinh, Director of the hospital opened a gift from Dr Liz Crathern one of the Canterbury Christ Church lecturers to discover 200 neonatal soothers – these are not available in Vietnam. A light-hearted moment enjoyed by all!

In October we welcomed Mr Bo Olsen, CEO of the NRE Group, his wife and family, to the neonatal unit. NRE is a founding donor for the design and development of the neonatal unit, sponsor of the Cycle a Difference t-shirts and the nurse training.

A Great Summer

The Cycle a Difference Vietnam Challenge Ride exceeded all our hopes for fundraising for the neonatal nurse training and the commitment of the cyclists and sponsors was just amazing. It is hard to believe we are a third of the way through the nurse training – graduation is August 2014.
