Cycle a Difference Asian Business Challenge Ride March 2014

The Newborns Vietnam Asian Business ride was a three day fully supported 440 kilometer cycling challenge for companies working in Vietnam and the region. It was designed to be an enjoyable but tough challenge and a truly memorable event in the spectacular landscape of the central highlands. The ride raised funds for Newborns Vietnam for neonatal nurse training to improve the survival of newborn infants in Vietnam and lifesaving equipment.

30 cyclists from teams from ten British & International companies based in Vietnam, Singapore and Hong Kong took the ‘cycling for newborns’ challenge. A 500 Kilometre, three day cycle ride from Thanh My to Da Nang. The scenery was breathtaking beautiful empty mountain roads through the jungle. The ride started with an intense and grueling 3000 metre climb, a glorious descent only to climb again and again and finally a gentle roll to A Luoi, the pictures tell the story a fantastic effort from a mixed ability group of riders all determined to finish on their bicycles. The next two days saw some personal bests for many riders, cycling in heavy rain with long slow undulating climbs and finally they conquered the Hai Van pass!

Dr Antony Stokes, British Ambassador to Vietnam and other CEO’s joined the teams for the home stretch from the Hai Van pass. The teams and sponsors have raised over $120,000 for neonatal nurse training! Great cycling amazing team spirit and wonderful generosity, well done to the 2014 CAD Riders.
